On the Issues
Eastern and Rural Oregon have been well represented, and I intend to carry on that tradition to give rural Oregonians a voice in the legislature. There are a multitude of issues that need to be addressed and challenges that need to be tackled that will require experienced leadership in natural resources, economic development, and community-based issues if we are going to ensure rural Oregonians have the representation they deserve. I will be that leader and the voice we need.
Keeping communities safe
As a strong advocate for public safety, I prioritize the well-being of our communities and the brave men and women who serve as first responders. I believe in providing our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel with the resources and support they need to keep our neighborhoods safe. From ensuring adequate funding for vital services to advocating for policies that address the root causes of crime and emergency situations, I am committed to standing beside our first responders and safeguarding the security of all Oregonians.
My legislative priorities:
Increase Funding for Law Enforcement.
We must prioritize funding for law enforcement agencies by allocating the budget to hire additional staff, provide necessary training and equipment, and secure other essential resources. Strengthening our law enforcement capabilities is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of our communities.
Enhance legislation to increase penalties for violent crime.
Strengthening penalties for offenses such as domestic violence, street violence, and drug-related crimes is essential for maintaining public safety and holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
Protect our Second Amendment rights
Defending our Second Amendment rights is non-negotiable.I stand firm in defending the freedoms enshrined in our Constitution, ensuring that law-abiding citizens have the ability to protect themselves, their families, and their property. As your representative, I will vigorously oppose any attempt to infringe upon these fundamental liberties.
Encourage Local Control
I advocate for local control, believing that decision-making authorities closest to the issues are best equipped to address and solve problems. Empowering our local and county police and sheriffs with more control over policies impacting Senate District 29 is essential for effective governance and community engagement.
Protecting Our Values
I am dedicated to protecting conservative values that are fundamental to our way of life. I believe in upholding traditional family values, defending the sanctity of life, and preserving our Second Amendment rights. I will fight against government overreach, promote fiscal responsibility, and safeguard individual liberties. By standing firm on conservative principles, we can ensure that our community remains a beacon of freedom, opportunity, and prosperity for generations to come.
I am a staunch advocate for protecting our Second Amendment Rights, and am proud to have the highest rating given to candidates by the NRA-PVF.
I am dedicated to preserving our culture, supporting our local communities, and upholding the principles of hard work and self-reliance. I believe in responsible stewardship of our resources, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the same opportunities and freedoms that we cherish today.
I am 100% pro-life and am the only candidate in this campaign to be endorsed by Oregon Right to Life PAC.
Natural Resources
I’ve worked in timber, agriculture, farming and ranching my entire life – I know the issues we are facing here in Senate District 29. I even put myself through college working at a sawmill. Now, my wife and I run a small cattle ranch in Enterprise.
Our state has over 38,500 farms, and 97% of them are family-owned. That’s a testament to the deep-rooted tradition and dedication within our farming communities. Agriculture plays a significant role in Oregon’s job market. In fact, one in twelve Oregonians finds employment in this vital sector, showcasing its immense impact on our state’s economy and workforce.
We need to protect and strengthen our agricultural positions in farming, ranching, logging and mining while looking for additional business opportunities and economic development for the community. We must have leaders with real, firsthand experience giving all of us in the natural resource community a voice in Salem.
I am proud to be the only candidate endorsed by Oregon Farm Bureau and Timber Unity.
Economic Strength
Eastern Oregon is the greatest place to live and has a lot to offer. I believe in fostering economic strength by supporting policies that encourage job growth and entrepreneurship.
As your next senator, I am committed to cutting unnecessary regulations and taxes that burden small businesses and hinder economic growth. By investing in infrastructure and workforce development, we can create opportunities for job creation and ensure a vibrant economy for our community and future generations.

Creating Jobs
Increasing good-paying jobs in our small rural communities is vital for sustaining local economies and preserving the fabric of these tight-knit societies. By providing employment opportunities close to home, we not only strengthen these communities economically but also enhance their resilience and vitality for generations to come.
1. Invest in infrastructure projects: Prioritize funding for infrastructure development, including transportation, renewable energy, and broadband expansion, to create jobs in construction, engineering, and related industries.
2. Support small businesses: Provide tax incentives, access to capital, and resources for small businesses to grow and thrive, stimulating job creation in local communities and fostering entrepreneurship.
3. Promote workforce development: Invest in education and training programs to equip workers with the skills needed for high-demand industries, ensuring a skilled workforce ready to fill job vacancies and drive economic growth.
Cutting Taxes & Spending
Oregon doesnt have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. We need to cut government waste by promoting transparency and accountability in spending. I will work to streamline bureaucratic processes and eliminate unnecessary regulations, saving taxpayer dollars and increasing efficiency in government operations. I believe in responsible stewardship of public resources to ensure that every dollar is spent wisely and effectively to benefit Oregonians.
My first legislative priority is to get rid of the Corporate Activities Tax (a.k.a. Sales Tax by another name) that is harming our businesses, farmers and racnhers, and families. The state doesn’t need more of our money to mismanage.
I will always vote to protect your Kicker tax refund. Your hard-earned tax dollars below in your pocket, and I will oppose tax increases and hidden fees killing our families and small businesses.
Supporting our Veterans
As the father of two sons who have served in the military, supporting veterans is deeply personal to me. I understand the sacrifices they and their families make, and I am committed to ensuring they receive the support and resources they need when they return home.
I advocate for policies that improve access to healthcare, mental health services, education, and job opportunities for veterans because I believe in honoring their service and providing them with the care and respect they deserve.
Housing and Homelessness
Tackling housing affordability and homelessness requires a multifaceted approach that prioritizes both short-term relief and long-term solutions. As your senator, I will work to streamline the development process, incentivize affordable housing projects, and explore innovative solutions such as workforce housing.
Additionally, I will advocate for increased funding for supportive services, mental health resources, and addiction treatment to address the root causes of homelessness. By working collaboratively with local governments, nonprofits, and community stakeholders, we can make meaningful progress towards ensuring that everyone in our community has access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.
